Forgejo Hosting Terms
Last updated: 7 December 2025
These Terms (“Forgejo Terms”) apply to your use of the git hosting services operated by The Haunted Lighthouse Limited at git.lighthouse.co.im (the “Forgejo Service”).
1. Service description
The Forgejo Service provides private and semi-private git hosting, issue tracking and related developer tools. It is intended for individuals and small organisations who value privacy, sustainability and long-term maintainability.
Details of available plans and pricing are published on our main website. In the event of conflict between marketing copy and these Forgejo Terms, these Terms prevail.
2. Accounts and security
- You must provide accurate contact details when registering for a hosting plan.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and any hardware security keys.
- You must not share your account with unauthorised third parties.
- We may require two-factor authentication (2FA) for some or all plans.
3. Acceptable use
You may not use the Forgejo Service to:
- host illegal content, including malware, pirated software, or unlawful material;
- engage in harassment, hate speech, or targeted abuse through issues or comments;
- run open relay-style mirrors intended primarily for abuse or spam;
- attempt to attack or probe other infrastructure from within our environment;
- circumvent security controls or attempt unauthorised access to other users’ projects.
Reasonable CI usage and automation is allowed within agreed limits. Excessive or abusive resource use may result in rate limiting or suspension.
4. Your content and repositories
You retain all rights to your code and project content. By using the Forgejo Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, back up and serve that content as needed to operate the service.
You are responsible for:
- ensuring you have the right to host the content you push;
- choosing appropriate open source or proprietary licences for your projects;
- complying with any third-party licence terms associated with your dependencies.
5. Backups and data retention
We take regular backups of Forgejo data and store them on secure infrastructure, and may also keep encrypted off-site copies for disaster recovery.
Backups are kept for a limited retention period and are not a substitute for your own backups. You are strongly encouraged to keep independent clones or mirrors of critical repositories.
6. Availability and maintenance
We aim to provide a stable, well-maintained Forgejo instance with timely security updates. However, the Forgejo Service is provided on a best-effort basis:
- we do not guarantee 24/7 uptime or any particular SLA, unless separately agreed in writing;
- we may schedule maintenance windows for upgrades and housekeeping;
- incidents or upstream issues may cause temporary disruption.
7. Payments and cancellation
Where hosting is provided on a paid basis:
- fees, billing periods and payment methods are described on our Website or in your onboarding documentation;
- late or failed payments may result in temporary suspension;
- we may terminate service if invoices remain unpaid after reasonable reminders.
You may cancel at any time for the next billing period. Unless required by law, fees already paid are non-refundable.
8. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Forgejo Service if you:
- breach these Forgejo Terms or applicable law;
- use the service in a way that risks security or stability;
- engage in harassment, abuse or other harmful conduct;
- fail to pay required fees.
We will normally give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data, unless prohibited by law or where immediate action is required to protect others.
9. Data protection and privacy
Personal data processed as part of account management and service operation is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Haunted Lighthouse Limited is not liable for:
- loss of code or data where you do not maintain independent backups;
- indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profits or business;
- issues arising from third-party dependencies, CI tools or integrations;
- content or conduct of other users or third parties.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
11. Changes to these Forgejo Terms
We may update these Forgejo Terms from time to time. Where changes are significant, we will take reasonable steps to notify affected customers. Continued use of the Forgejo Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
12. Governing law
These Forgejo Terms are governed by the laws of the Isle of Man. Disputes shall be resolved by the Isle of Man courts, except where otherwise required by law.
